GPPI-CPR and the
Israel Foreign Office organized a delegation of five multi-party senior MPs to
Israel from 19-26 December, 2014 led by Mr. Dinesh Trivedi, MP & Former
Union Cabinet Minister. The other members of the delegation included Mr. H K
Dua (Ind.), Ms. Supriya Sule (NCP), Mr. Prem Das Rai (Sikkim Democratic Front),
and Mr. Bharatendra Singh (BJP). The prime focus of the visit was the academic
program at the Tel Aviv University. It also included Meetings with Senior
Government Officials, as well guided onsite visits relating to agriculture;
drip irrigation and water management projects.
During the six day
program the delegation had a luncheon discussion with the Head of Israel-India
Parliamentary Friendship Association, Ms. Yifat Kariv MK. The MPs also
attended meetings with Prof. Eugene Kandel, Head of the National Economic
Council; Head of Israel-India Chamber of Commerce
An intensive
interactive session at the Tel Aviv University included discussions on various
important topics with experts from the University - Prof Raanan, TAU Vice
President, on Globalization Strategy at TAU; Prof. Meir Litvak,
Director, the Alliance Center for Iranian Studies, on Changes in the
Middle East: Iran and ISIS; Prof. Yossi Shain, Chair of Political Science
Department & Head of the Brody Institute of Applied Diplomacy, on The
Arab Spring and Changes in the Middle East; and discussions with The
Blavatnik Interdisciplinary Cyber Research Center – Major Gen. (Ret.) Prof.
Issac Ben-Israel, Head of the ICRC; and Prof. Michael Birnhack, Buchmann
Faculty of Law.
